Colonial Court
Colonial Court was the first section of Sunnyside Gardens, completed in 1924 as a self-contained community. Its 48 row houses and six small apartment buildings are arranged largely around the perimeter of the block, leaving a broad central garden at the interior.
The shared court was originally planned with landscaped areas, children’s play spaces, and tennis courts. Through-block paths connected the surrounding rows to the gardens and neighboring streets. By the time of landmark designation in 2007, much of the original common space had been divided by fences or incorporated into individual yards, but the larger block plan remained clearly visible.
