Type C
A rare, symmetrical house type organized around a central entrance and a calm three-bay façade.
Form & composition
A Formal Center
Type C is organized around a central entrance, with one window on each side and two aligned windows above. Because the façade is symmetrical, the LPC did not create a separate mirror version.
Its centered composition gives it a formal, self-contained quality that stands apart from the more common side-entry types. Some examples used wider eight-over-eight sash, but the overall symmetry remained unchanged.

How to Recognize It
Look for balance first. The entrance acts as the visual center of the entire façade.
A balanced front elevation centered on the entrance.
One first-floor window appears on each side of the door.
Two second-floor windows align with the windows below.
A door hood, pilasters or a small portico may frame the entry.
