HOUSE TYPE 02 OF 26
Type B / B′
A compact two-bay house distinguished by a generous first-floor window and a mirrored entrance position.
Form & composition
A Broader Window Within A Compact Façade.
Type B keeps the compact two-bay width of Type A but gives the first floor a much broader window composition. One bay contains the entrance; the other may contain paired windows, a flat three-part window or a projecting wood bay.
Type B′ mirrors the façade. The larger first-floor opening gives this type a more expansive living-room presence from the street while the second floor remains calm and regular.
Identification guide
How to Recognize It
Look for the contrast between the wide lower-level window and the quieter pair of windows above.
Architectural character
What Makes It Distinctive
The type can look quite different depending on whether its large opening is flat or projecting. That variation is part of the design, not a different house type. The constant features are the two-bay organization, the generous lower-level window and the mirrored entrance position.
